In Ezekiel 3, God instructs Ezekiel to eat the roll of the book. In his mouth, it was sweet. He digests it into his belly and goes forth in bitterness. He brings the word of God to Israel / Judah. But, what is the spiritual meaning of this bittersweet book. Ezekiel is one of the four ‘major prophets’ in the Old Testament. He prophesied during the time of Jeremiah and Daniel (2 other ‘major prophets’). Ezekiel received many visions while in captivity by the Babylonians. The Babylonian Captivity symbolizes the upcoming Great Tribulation. Most prophecy in the Bible is symbolic. The book of Ezekiel also contains much symbolism.
