Jesus performed many miracles. Some of them are recorded in the Gospels in the Bible. These miracles were amazing actions that validated Jesus Christ as God. But, the also have symbolic meanings. The word ‘miracle’ is not in the original Greek manuscripts of the New Testament. Rather, several English versions of the Bible (e.g., KJV, etc.) translate the Greek words sēmeion (signs) or dunamis (power) as ‘miracle’ . Therefore, the ‘miracles’ of Jesus are really a ‘powerful sign’. Moreover, the word ‘sign’ means that it is ‘symbolic’ of a greater spiritual truth. It is important to correctly interpret the Bible to understand the fuller spiritual meaning of the miracles (signs) of Jesus Christ. This is done by comparing spiritual with spiritual (Scripture with Scripture).
