The Parable of the Unprofitable Servant underscores the duty of every Christian. Although God does not need our help, He does loves and and therefore, allows us to work for Him. The duty of all Christians is to serve God and be a faithful witness of Jesus Christ. This involves sharing the Gospel. We should not received thanks for this. Only God deserves thanksgiving. Elements of this parable are not well understood by many church leaders. They typically do not teach the deeper spiritual meaning of this parable. Spiritually, we plow the field, feed cattle (sheep).
