Jesus obeyed the Father:

Obedience of the Rechabites to their father (jJr 35:1-19):

Esther obeyed Mordecai:

Respect for Elders (not parents)

  • Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren; The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity. Honour widows that are widows indeed. (1Ti 5:1-3)
  • Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of the old man, and fear thy God: I am the LORD. (Lev 19:32)
  • Bathsheba therefore went unto king Solomon, to speak unto him for Adonijah. And the king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself unto her, and sat down on his throne, and caused a seat to be set for the king’s mother; and she sat on his right hand. (1Ki 2:19)
  • Now Elihu had waited till Job had spoken, because they were elder than he. When Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, then his wrath was kindled. And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said, I am young, and ye are very old; wherefore I was afraid, and durst not shew you mine opinion. (Job 32:4-6)
