In Ezekiel 3, Ezekiel is bound and muted. Ezekiel is a prophet sent from God to Israel. The house of Israel is a type of the church today. Ezekiel prophesied to Israel during the Babylonian Captivity. Ezekiel received many visions while in captivity by the Babylonians. The Babylonian Captivity symbolizes the the Great Tribulation, which the church is on the verge of entering. The Great Tribulation is that ‘little season’ just before the Last Day when Jesus Christ returns. The symbols of binding and muting teach us the way God expects a person to witness to the church today. These symbols point to speaking God’s Word only and finding ways to communicate this truth.
