The Babylonian Captivity symbolizes the the Great Tribulation, which the church is on the verge of entering. The Great Tribulation is that ‘little season’ just before the Last Day when Jesus Christ returns. The action of laying down is symbolic of the spiritual deadness of the church of the Old Testament.
