After the birth of Jesus Christ, a terrible thing occurred. King Herod decided to kill all the children of Bethlehem. He tried to ensure that the recently born ‘King of the Jews’ would be killed. At the time King Herod was considered as the King of the Jews. This killing by King Herod is mourned spiritually by Rachel. Rachel was one of the wives of Jacob. But, there is an important spiritual meaning behind Rachel’s mourning. When Rachel died, she was buried near Bethlehem. But, Bethlehem is a city of Judah (who was the son of Leah, not Rachel).
